Desks have changed. Today, they are likely to support a computer, and
therefore, the working surface is deeper, giving the user a more
ergonomic relationship to the screen and keyboard. There is also a
growing market for desks for telephone work. For this large working
areas are no longer needed; the user has a headset and works little with
paper. Second, the office often contains only a percentage of the
staff, as they no longer need to be there all the time. This has
resulted in ‘hot desking’. To avoid wasting space, only as many desks
are provided as are really likely to be used at any time. When an
employee does come into the office, he is then allocated a desk for the
day. His belongings, and anything specific to him, can be kept in a
mobile pedestal which is kept separately when not in use.
Working at home is becoming more common. There is now a market for
furniture for the home which is also designed to be suitable for
computers.
At Furniture Solutions we are acutely aware of these changes and can
assist our clients in accommodating them easily. |
